I enrolled my two kids, ages 4 and 8, in TKD at Vision Martial Arts center last year.  It was the best thing I ever did.  My 8 year olds confidence, agility, and strength has improved dramatically.  He enjoys his classes and his teachers.  My 4 year old is following her brother’s footsteps.  Not only do they learn TKD, but also how to deal with bullies and strangers.  VMAC is the best place to go learn and respect TKD or any martial arts.

It is with great appreciation that we acknowledge the positive impact you and VMAC have had upon our daughter Elizabeth during the last three years.  From her first step into the Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do as a white belt to the present where she is poised to be a black belt candidate, Elizabeth has received excellent instruction and encouragement by you and your instructors.  Our family commitment with Elizabeth to regularly attend classes at VMAC has reaped rewards beyond the dojo mat and into the realm of long-term life skills.  These include self-confidence, setting personal goals, teamwork, healthy habits, street smarts and safety. Thank you again for your personal commitment to Elizabeth and all of the VMAC students.

I’ve come to know the pursuit of my Black Belt is truly a journey, a journey into learning my body and self more than I expected, and more than ever before. I’ve recognized that during the time of my earlier belts, while I was practicing, studying, and learning, I was very focused on the reward of the next new belt color. During my Green Belt period I became aware that I was becoming less interested in the reward and becoming more interested in the process, the moment, the experience of learning the art. I appreciate the leadership and commitment to a quality learning experience demonstrated by Ms. Reeve and her staff at VMAC. I have confidence that I will succeed and reach my designation and goal of being a Black Belt.  I’ve learned the real reward for me is in the Journey and not the Destination.

I feel: I have been learning Tae Kwon Do from the teachers at Vision Martial Arts for more than six months.  I feel much calmer.  More courage is building up in me.  The courage to do things I have never done before.  Things like standing up to a bully and, making friends with a bully.  I feel like I can be more helpful because I have confidence in me.  I am going to be a Black Belt some day.

It was early 2004 when I started to explore the different martial arts centers in Plano. After looking into 7 or 8 different Karate, Tae Kwon Do and Jujitsu facilities, I found one common theme-the master of the dojo did not want the parents involved in the same class as their children.  They all said the same thing, that the children would look to the parents to let them out of doing something whenever things got tough in class.  This would then interfere with the child’s success and would not be in line with their hard core teaching styles! I’d kind of given up looking for a family karate opportunity when I saw an advertisement for Vision Martial Arts (VMA).  I grabbed my oldest son, we took advantage of the complimentary classes and were hooked immediately.   In a few months, my youngest son wrapped up his football season and joined us and suddenly we were the “Three Ninjas.” Enrolling at VMA has turned out to be one of the best choices I’ve ever made and we’re nearly halfway to our Black Belts.  Thanks Vision Martial Arts!

I enrolled at Vision Martial Arts to learn self defense, have some fun and to keep in shape.  It did not take long to realize that I was going to get much more out of martial arts.  I have learned self discipline, the importance of setting goals, how to focus my training and have developed relationships with other students and instructors.  I have been taking Kenpo for 10 months and can see the development of my self defense skills. My seven year old son also joined Tae Kwon Do and he loves it.  He is developing self confidence, respect, self confidence and the ability to defend himself.  He really enjoys going to class at Vision Martial Arts.  We enjoy taking martial arts together and having the common bond.  I know the investment in the cost for our martial arts will prove to be a wise investment. We both enjoy the time we spend at the dojo.  I rely recommend Ms. Reeves and Vision Martial Arts.

As parents of two girls, we were concerned about their ability to protect themselves as they moved towards independence and out of our realm of protection. We enrolled both girls in Tae Kwon Do at Vision Martial Arts and our main focus was simple self-defense. What we didn’t expect were the other benefits that came along with this skill–those that build strong minds and bodies (discipline, respect, honesty, confidence, hard work). As our oldest grows, she is experiencing how it feels to walk tall and have confidence in what she can do, so much that she’s questioned why Tae Kwon Do was just for her and her sister. It made sense that if she needed to know how to protect herself – then it was just as important that her parents were able to do the same. Now, as a Martial Arts family, we share practice times at home where the children are are the teachers, class times, and a common goal. Most importantly – we are having fun together!!

Ms. Reeve –  I just wanted to say thank you again for meeting with us yesterday.  My son is so excited about the classes and he said he really liked hanging out with Mr. Kirby, in his words “he is pretty cool”…  He went from being less than thrilled about the experience to overly excited and asking if he can go every day!  I truly think this will be such a great thing for him to learn and will be such a huge confidence booster for him.
